Network Control & Management
Network Control & Management
Networks, computing and information technologies are evolving at a significant rate with the adaptation of disaggregated and open architectures and the quick pace of innovative networking technologies’ development. Unlike the previous convergence of voice and data networks, the changes now are leading to architectures that support the convergence of many of the enterprise functions and services.
As these many new technologies and options become available, customers are struggling to define reliable, cost effective and future-proof network architectures to support the communications needs of the organization as they evolve to support new applications and services, and new technologies - - all while stringently reducing costs.
Vencore Labs engineers are recognized in the industry as the leading independent research and professional services organization for developing novel networking technologies and architecting and designing complex networks. We have worked with a large number of US and international organizations to help them architect, design and build their network infrastructure. This work has included numerous professional services engagements with carriers, agencies and enterprises planning to roll out IP/MPLS networks and new converged services/applications such as Unified Capabilities (UC).
We are equally adept in architecting and designing various enterprise and agency networks with traditional switches, routers and service elements as well as those using emerging architectures, such as Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV). Our engineers are well versed in the nuances and trade-offs in offering user services via cloud-based solutions. With a deep understanding of networks, technologies, operations and security, we cut through the maze of options to help customers architect and design their communications infrastructure. This includes the following functions:
- Assessing network technologies & recommending network architectures enabling risk & cost reductions
- Enabling interoperability with existing network infrastructure to ease transition to new architectures
- Identifying and resolving network performance and security gaps
- Designing and engineering networks to optimize network deployments
- Ensuring highly reliable & resilient networks
A prime example of such capabilities is our on-going work with a government agency to support its engineering and implementation of Unified Communications (UC) capabilities. The overall objective of this effort is to assist our customer in accomplishing its mission of providing Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) end-to-end Converged IP Network Services across the Global Information Grid (GIG) for effective Command and Control (C2) and information dominance; implement Unified Capabilities (UC) on the unclassified and classified enterprise wide area network (WAN) that are secure, reliable, and interoperable; and define Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for voice, video, data, and other UC services and applications.
