Chantilly, Va. — April 16, 2018 — Vencore, Inc. announced today that two Vencore Labs researchers will participate in the upcoming IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications (INFOCOM) taking place on April 18, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

IEEE INFOCOM is a premier conference in the research community—providing a forum for researchers to present and exchange ideas in networking and closely related fields. IEEE INFOCOM covers both theoretical and systems research.

Alexander Poylisher, Ph.D., Vencore Labs researcher, has been invited to sit on the “Fog Computing and Networking—What’s Next” panel. He joins five other leading industry and academic experts who will discuss the road ahead for fog computing and networking, including research challenges in fulfilling the potential of fog for business and government, and emerging fog standards. Douglas Zuckerman, Ph.D., senior researcher at Vencore labs, will moderate the panel.

The new fog paradigm bridges the gap between cloud technologies and edge devices and sensors where data is generated and collected by distributing intelligence, processing, communication and control functions anywhere along the cloud-to-things continuum. Fog offers the promise of efficiently meeting the needs of diverse Internet of Things (IoT) applications from 5G wireless systems, embedded artificial intelligence (AI), and software-defined networks, to smart grids, smart cities and connected vehicles.
